Shiny!
Two things were cancelled today, or rather postponed. But I'm happy with that. Tomorrow is going to be very hot and though I want to see our daughter and granddaughter, leaving it another week should mean cooler weather for a long drive down to Mid-Wales. This also means that tomorrow I can attack the back garden, which is still not really under control.
Meanwhile today has been very successful. Although the gas engineer had finished by lunchtime yesterday, I didn't feel like driving to Barmouth to collect my rings. However, when I saw that it was raining and very dismal this morning, I decided to go and get them, rather than wait until next Thursday.
As I suspected, there was quite a lot of traffic leaving Barmouth shortly before 10 a.m. which is the usual checking out time for hotels, holiday apartment and chalets, but there was very little going in. Anyone planning a day at the seaside who had looked at the weather forecast would mostly likely have decided to leave it a little later until the rain stopped.
This was what it was like just after parking the car in the main car park.
I walked down the high street and bought a pad of A4 lined paper. I may need to resort to hand writing first draft of the current novel because it is totally new first draft. I then collected my wedding ring and engagement ring from the jewellers. On the way back to the car park, I also bought some table "mats" made out of slate. For some reason G has a strong aversion to place mats, but he finally decided that slate ones would be OK.
This was what it was like as I returned to the car park. Still raining!
And here are the rings, as good as new! Combining my mother's wedding ring with my own has worked really well. I must thankcuriouswombat for the idea. I would never have thought of it myself. I've ended up with a slightly chunkier and much larger wedding ring that fits nicely and I don't have an old wedding ring hanging around in the jewellery box.
