Yes, we're in the North West of Wales but our son and daughter went to university in Cardiff which is on the south coast of Wales and then settled down there because there are more jobs.
Though not a huge distance in terms of miles, it's a 3.5 hour drive from our house to theirs. I can no longer do this as a day trip. I did it back in the day when I was hauling the kids and their belongings back and forth for the university terms, but now it would have to be a real emergency for me to consider doing 7 hours of driving in a day. Besides, once you get there you more or less have to turn straight round or be very returning home.
In the past we've done successful meetups in the middle of Wales, but to be honest there's not much to do there so I think a day trip to Shrewsbury should be a nice change.
