A useful day
Jun. 12th, 2024 05:19 pmG delayed me as I was trying to set off for the Welsh chat group. The plan was to pop into the charity shop en route, that's assuming there was a parking space free nearby. Then I intended to drive up to the Eurospar, do some food shopping and then leave the car in the car park and walk down into town to join the others in the cafe.
Miraculously there was a parking space a couple of minutes walk from the Hospice charity shop, but it took two journeys to carry the bags and the box with the boots. This meant that there was no time to do the food shop before heading for the chat group. I therefore left the car in the Eurospar car park and did the shopping once the Welsh chat session was over.
The afternoon has been spent doing odds and ends of stuff, including putting the fruit and sugar to soak for another attempt at a bara brith. I'm getting the hang of the new oven now. In addition to scones, I have successfully make mince pies. (During the recent cupboard clearance I discovered two jars of mincemeat at the back which were still OK to use.)
Looking ahead, it looks like G and I won't get a walk together this week. The forecast for tomorrow is for very heavy rain, though I might get a little more bramble clearing in before it starts. Friday and Saturday look iffy, though with lighter rain. It looks like next Tuesday is the best bet.
