Random stuff

Lyre progress update. I now have 9 tunes that I can play after a fashion. A few bars will go beautifully, then there will be a slight pause while I arrange my fingers to reach for a different chord. It's also slightly frustrating that I have to transpose all the tunes into the key of C (or A minor). It would be nice to be able to get music that's immediately playable, but my musical skills are returning after not really using them for years.

In other news, I managed to remove my wedding ring. I should have done this years ago when it first started becoming too tight. I had had my engagement ring enlarged and the idea was that I'd then get the wedding ring enlarged as well, but for some reason it didn't happen. Anyway, I decided the time had come to take it off before it became absolutely impossible and it had to be cut off.

It was a struggle, but I managed it eventually. I'm currently wearing a ring I normally wear on my right hand because being without a ring feels odd after wearing one for 50 years. I now need to decide whether to get the old ring enlarged or buy a new one. I'm tending towards the buy new option because it's going to be at least £80 to enlarge the old one, possibly more. However, I want to let the ring finger recover for a while after being constricted for so long. Then I can see what its true size is and buy a ring that will fit nicely.
