The sheep were mentioned on Facebook

I said in my previous post that I'd more than half expected there to be a post in the local FB group demanding to know whose sheep had escaped. There wasn't anything in the two local groups I was already a member of, but there was in a different one. :-)



After asking what colour markings they had, a local farmer admitted they were his, so they will be back where they're supposed to be now.

Wandering sheep are a regular feature in the Forest. There are traditional land rights about them being able to "graze the verges." This means we have sheep who regularly lounge in the library car park, flocks that wander up and down our single track lane, into the woods, etc. And a lot of people grumbling about it on Facebook while other's are yelling "tradition!" XD

I think they're a bit of a nuisaunce but I like our wandering flocks all the same.

We don't have anything like the traditonal land rights up here in Gwynedd. Further out of town, there are gated lanes because the fields are not fenced and the sheep can roam across the road, but the escaped sheep were at the edge of the town itself. It would have been quite dangerous if they'd got down to the main road. I think they were this year's lambs, now almost grown up but still young and adventurous.

I didn't, someone else (possibly the owner of the garden the sheep invaded) did. I found the post when it ws a couple of days old and the problem had been solved.

I'm glad Facebook has its uses.

There are a couple of very useful local groups. One has been busily reuniting people with their lost phones, soft toys, wallets, purses etc all summer. The other is very good for announcing local events, concerts and so on.

I'm afraid that the sheep will have done a fair bit of damage to the garden they ran into. They were busily eating plants when I tried to get them out and there was a lot of sheep poo on the lawn. :-(

I hope they enjoyed their great adventure, although the stereotype of sheep is that they're so dim-witted that they'll soon forget.
